A Chairde go leir,
We, in Newcastle West GAA club, are always looking at new ways of engaging with our local community, to reach out for support be it, new members or financial, in running our club. Firstly, I would like to congratulate our Adult Footballers who brought silverware back to the club in 2021, by winning the Co. Senior Football title, for the past number of years we have put back to back adult titles together in both codes, 2019 Senior Football, 2020 Intermediate Hurling and 2021 Senior Football. This is no mean feat as we have in/around 13 dual players crossing between both panels. Great credit is due to the players for their commitment and dedication, together with their respective management teams in achieving those titles. It would be remiss of me not to mention our other adult squads who have done exceptionally well over the past 12 months also, our Premier JA Footballers reached their Co. Final, played within 24 hours of the Senior Final, but alas on the day it wasn’t meant to be. Our hurlers competing for the first time at Premier Intermediate level gave a good account of themselves, which gives us all hope that over the next year or two we will be in a position to drive onto the next level. All our underage panels are achieving the goals set out year on year and we are looking forward to these green shoots bursting forward onto the adult scene over the next number of years. The Club is in a very good place with hope abounding for the future.
During the difficulties of 2020/2021 and indeed, currently, members are always on hand to help those who are most vulnerable in our community, be it shopping, collecting medicines etc. A phone call to the club phone 087 6381319 is all that is needed for us to help out. Over the past number of years, we have forged stronger links within the parish through a fundraiser in 2019 for St. Ita’s and in 2020, running a fundraiser for NCW business association to help defray the costs of the town’s Christmas lights.
PLAY TODAY and BE ON OUR WINNING TEAM FOR 2022 #CLUBLKDRAW
As a club, we believe the way forward for our parish, is all volunteer groups working for the betterment and enrichment of our community. We have adopted the motto ‘NCW GAA SPORTING LOCAL AND SUPPORTING LOCAL’. 2022 looks to be a very exciting year for the club, off the field initially, with our new development, which started in December 2021. This is a very comprehensive development of our facilities, which will stand our members in good stead for many decades to come. The refurbishment is to be carried out over a number of phases in the coming years. The Club Limerick Draw is one of our main sources of income, you can support us your club whilst also supporting your county teams by becoming a member of this fantastic, well run draw, which takes place on a monthly basis. We would be most appreciative of your support and thank you in advance of same.
Yours in sport,
Margaret Hannan Chairperson NCW GAA
