Senior Football Tailteann Cup Quarter Final

A disappointing result as Laois strike late to knock Limerick out of championship.

It was heartbreak for the Limerick footballers and our representatives, Iain Corbett, Cian

Sheehan and Ruadhan O’Connor in the quarter finals of the Tailteann Cup last Saturday as

they were pipped at the post by Laois. Colm Murphy’s late goal following a mistake in the

Limerick’s defence proved crucial as Limerick let a five-point lead slip in the closing stages of

the game. At one stage Mark Fitzgerald’s side were 0-14 to 0-09 ahead after 47 minutes but

failed to score again. Having missed five goal chances, Limerick will reflect on this game as

‘the one that got away’. The disappointment amongst the Limerick players and supporters

was tangible in the Gaelic grounds after the final whistle blew and Laois now march on to

play in Croke Park in the semi-final.

Hard luck to the management, team, extended panel, and all involved with the county team.

Special mention to our club men who represented us very well as they always do.
